Traveling solo to Bhutan was a soul-stirring experience thanks to Blissful Odyssey. They helped me arrange private meditation sessions with monks and visits to remote temples that most tourists never see.
My friend and I engaged Blissful Odyssey Travel to plan and customize an Eastern to Western Bhutan Tour. I have been to Bhutan before but visited mostly western districts. The tour was an eye opener and an amazing experience as we zap through eastern districts from Samdrup Jhongkar, Trashiyangtse, Trashigang, Mongar, Lhuentse, through central districts Bumthang, Trongsa, Wangdue ultimately to western districts Punakha, Thimphu and Paro!
Highlights of the tour include Ombar Ney trek (Tiger Nest of East Bhutan!), Khoma Village Homestay, Muenselling institute Khaling, Ura Valley, not forgetting the beautiful spring flowers, dzhongs in various districts and Taktsang trek (Renowned Tiger Nest)! Our guide (Yeshey Tshelthrim) and driver (Lobzang) took great care of us ensuring our safety, that we have plenty to see and also enough rest as we move from one district to another. The tour was thoughtfully planned with consideration of our stamina, a good mix of nature treks and cultural visits, and also a meaningful trip to the school of blind. Our guide was also very knowledgeable with each district’s specialities, I wonder if his favorite subject is history?
Of course to cover every single site is simply not possible with just 10 days! Just as what our guide told us ‘save some for the next trip!’ Thank you Blissful Odyssey Travel, Yeshey and Lobzang! We truly enjoyed ourselves and are definitely looking forward to visit Bhutan again! Tashi Delek!ðŸ™
I worked in Bhutan as a Foreign Trainer in 2023 and I had travelled to many places in the year I stayed in Bhutan. Yeshey Tshelthrim from Blissful Odyssey Travel had been my reliable tour guide for all my tours in Bhutan.
As a “grand finale” for my overseas teaching stint in Bhutan, I arranged for a 2D1N Hike with Yeshey to the Highlands above Phajoding/Thuji Dra Monasteries in Thimphu on 18-19Dec 2023. I had done Phajoding Trail once in August as a day hike so this time I decided to hike up to the highlands above Thuji Dra Monastery. My aim was to hike to the Highland lakes above Thuji Dra at 4200m+.
Yeshey helped arranged for my stay at the monastery. The monk at Thuji Dra Monastery was very nice and gave us 2 rooms with warm blankets and a small kitchen area to cook our meals. This was the first time I carried cauliflower, tomatoes etc in my backpack up the mountains to cook dinner. My strong and responsible trekking guide Yeshey carried a tiffin carrier with rice, egg gondo(egg with cheese), shaky datshi(mushroom with cheese) as our Day 1 Lunch. 😄 So, like all Bhutanese, we carried food up the mountains ourselves. We had a comfortable stay at the monastery. As this was the 2nd time I hiked up Phajoding Trail and being winter, the weather was very good and the trail was dry, I enjoyed the 7km hike from 2650m to 3950m Thuji Dra.

A wonderful experience with Yeshey in Bhutan. He goes above and beyond to make sure we are comfortable and safe. He also has a lot of knowledge of the area, and always provides good recommendations. In addition he’s very considerate and stays one more night so he can drop us off at the airport at 5:30 am next day. Very great experience and highly recommend him.
